Sinus GPS

For Long-Term Relief

Dr. Mandel is the only rhinologic surgeon in Broward and Miami-Dade counties approved to use Fiagon© - a computer-assisted image-guided surgery (GPS) technology. This enables our team to pinpoint the locations of troubled areas in the nasal cavity and sinuses. Having such a detailed assessment through every phase of testing, surgery, and recovery ensures you receive the best treatment South Florida has to offer.

Accuracy is the mainstay of image-guided surgery. Our state-of-the-art surgical suites are outfitted with cutting-edge CT imaging technology for unparalleled accuracy in both testing and treatment. The integration of CT imaging software in our operating rooms enhances Dr. Mandel’s ability to perform minimally invasive sinonasal, sleep, and snoring-related surgeries in-office with the utmost precision.

How It Works

A head mask is placed on the patient to pinpoint anatomical landmarks. CT images are loaded into our sinus GPS navigation system and calibrated to pre-set reference points recorded during the CT scan. Dr. Mandel then maps bone landmarks and measures tissue density for a complete assessment of each patient’s unique airway. This allows our navigation system to track surgical instruments within 1-mm to ensure each procedure meets our high standards of patient care.

Fiagon© Sinus Technology

As one of the consummate innovators in the fields of rhinology and otolaryngology, Dr. Mandel was quick to spot the benefits Fiagon© technology offers. After integrating it into South Florida Sinus and Allergy Center, we are proud to give our patients industry-leading accuracy and extremely high sinus surgery success rates.

We use a full range of Fiagon© tech in our offices and state-certified Level III surgical suites. All of these tools use direct navigation, which are microsensors built into the instruments that allow them to bend without any loss of data capture. Fiagon© instruments we use include:

  • ENT Navigation – multi-screen and multiple instrument capturing
  • FlexPointer
  • GuideWire

The combination of Dr. Mandel’s experience, talent, and Fiagon’s© state-of-the-art technology allows for the very best in cutting-edge sinus care.

Simplifying The Complex Anatomy Of The Nasal Cavity

Using intraoperative imaging technology, Dr. Mandel takes snapshots before, during, and after surgery to show a full perspective of anatomy and surgical changes in real-time. Such a detailed approach greatly reduces postoperative discomfort (reducing tissue inflammation and excess bleeding), while drastically improving success rates.
